Terms of service
The agreement between you and RePay when you use the app, the payer pages or the website.
The agreement
These terms are between you and RePay ("RePay", "we"). They apply when you create a RePay account, use the app, open a payer page at pay.repay.et, or use the Telegram bot. By doing any of those you accept them. If you use RePay for a business, you accept them for that business.
What RePay is, and what it is not
RePay is a record-keeping and reminder service for people who collect recurring payments: it shows who paid and who owes, sends reminders, and helps you check payment slips.
- RePay is not a bank, a wallet or a payment service. We never hold, receive or move your money. Payers pay you directly, or online through Chapa straight to your bank account.
- RePay does not guarantee payment. Reminders make it more likely that people pay; they do not make anyone pay.
- RePay records what you confirm. Bank SMS suggestions and slips are suggestions until you or your staff tap to record them. You are responsible for the records in your account.
Your account
You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code. Keep your phone and your code to yourself; anything done from your account is your responsibility. You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract.
Owners can add staff. Staff act on the owner's behalf, see only the businesses the owner chooses, and the owner is responsible for what they do.
Your payers
You may add a person to RePay only if they really pay you and you may contact them about it. Reminders and receipts go to the numbers you enter, in your business name, so you are responsible for keeping them correct.
Payers can stop reminders at any time. RePay honours that, and so must you: do not re-add a payer to get around it. Reminders are never sent between 21:00 and 07:00.
Online payments through Chapa
If you turn on online payments, your payers can pay through Chapa. Chapa sends the amount to the bank account you registered; RePay never touches it. The payer pays a RePay service fee of 1% (minimum ETB 5, maximum ETB 50) plus Chapa's fee, both shown before they pay. Chapa's terms apply to the payment itself. Paying you directly and sending a slip is always free for the payer.
Plans, trial and billing
- Trial. Every new account gets 30 days of the Business plan. We take no card or payment details, and nothing is charged automatically. When the trial ends you choose a plan or move to Free.
- Free plan. Up to 15 active payers, with no time limit.
- Paid plans are priced per month in Ethiopian birr by the number of active payers across all your businesses. Paused and ended payers do not count. Current prices are on repay.et/pricing/.
- Paying. You pay in the app through Chapa, monthly, every 3 months (5% off) or yearly (2 months free). Plans do not renew by themselves. We remind you 3 days before a plan ends.
- Grace and lapse. If a plan ends unpaid, you have 7 days of grace. After that your account moves to Free limits: your 15 longest-active payers keep working and the rest become read-only, with their history. Nothing is deleted.
- No refunds. Because the trial is free and plans never renew by themselves, we do not refund plan payments.
- Price changes are announced in the app at least 30 days before they apply, and never change a period you have already paid for.
Acceptable use
Do not use RePay to collect money you have no right to collect, to harass anyone, to send messages unrelated to what people owe you, or to break Ethiopian law. Do not try to break into RePay or other people's accounts, or copy the service. We may suspend an account that does any of these.
Your data
Your records belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them to run the service, as described in the privacy policy. You can export your records from the app and delete your account at any time. We never delete your records because a plan ended.
Availability
We work to keep RePay available and reminders on time, but we cannot promise that a message is delivered: Telegram, the mobile networks and the SMS gateway are outside our control. The app works offline and syncs when you are back online; records made offline count from when they were made.
Liability
RePay is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for money a payer does not pay, for a decision you make based on a suggestion in the app, for messages that are not delivered, or for indirect losses. Our total liability to you in any year is limited to what you paid us for RePay in that year.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using RePay and delete your account at any time. We can end the agreement if you break these terms, with notice where the law requires it. Sections on data, liability and law survive.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For changes that matter we tell owners in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Using RePay after that date means you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and disputes are heard by the courts of Addis Ababa.
